Bhramari Pranayama, also known as humming bee breath, is a calming practice that helps soothe the nervous system. Bhramari encourages "pratyahara" or the tuning of the senses inward. Other benefits of Bhramari pranayama include; calms and quiets the mind, releases cerebral tension, stimulates the pineal and pituitary glands supporting their proper functioning, helps relieve stress and anxiety, helps dissipate anger, and supports and bolsters the health of the throat improving and strengthening one's voice. Please note: Bhramari is contraindicated for individuals with high blood pressure, epilepsy, or an active ear infection. Bhramari should be practiced seated and not in the supine (lying down) position.
